ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT


 

Alan has for many years been at the forefront of environmental consultancy within the construction industry and has a wealth of experience which includes the formulation of Environmental Management Systems and their implementation on site, development of sustainable transport infrastructure, and the assessment, evaluation and management of processes in relation to global environmental issues.

His project experience includes:

  • Nishimatsu-Cementation Skanska JV
  • Channel Tunnel Rail Link Contract 220 (London Tunnels West)
  • CTRL C430 (Ashford)

Previously, as head of Construction Materials R & D at Skanska Technology, he provided technical support across the Skanska UK Construction Group on environmental and materials-related matters. Responsibilities included the submission of tender documents for major infrastructure projects, including five Channel Tunnel Rail Link contracts and for many major road developments including the Birmingham Northern Relief Road, M1/A1 Link Road and A12/M11 Link Road.

Alan is a visiting Professor in Environmental Technology at Greenwich University, where he specialises in providing solutions to specific environmental problems such as the remediation of contaminated land. He is a leading expert on the mitigation of environmental impacts from construction and the effects of climate change, and on the accelerated carbonation of cementitious materials.
